Biography:
Nina first studied Art at Barnfield College, Luton in 1979 - 1980 where she took ‘A’ level Life Drawing as part of a foundation course. After this she went on to train in Graphic Design at Dunstable College.
She left college in 1983 and became a self-employed Graphic Designer.
In 1994 she took an evening course in watercolour painting and started to paint as a hobby. This hobby gradually became more and more important to her until she eventually decided in 1999 that she wanted to be a full time professional artist. She spent most of the year in 2000 trying to re-direct her energy into art-related work and away from graphic design. She still needed to earn a living, so she did commssioned illustrations, murals and taught adult art classes.
She has worked on many murals in & around Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire and in 1999 she was awarded a Design Award for her Park Town Subway mural in Luton.
Nina has displayed her work in numerous shows and exhibitions. Nina’s subject matter is vast, she paints anything that appeals to her and in any material she can find. She loves to experiment with new techniques and ideas, her motto being ‘I will try anything once!’.
Since 1997 she has taken a City & Guilds every year in different types of welding at Barnfield College and has gone on to produce various sculptures in steel.
In November 2000 Nina won a Bedfordshire Businesswomen award for her achievements with her art over the previous year.
