descrizione: Again, the symmetric clustering of holes made with the fingers of both hands. Each connective member is squeezed and extruded to maximize flex and tension, and to provide a stance and an attitude to the suggestive image. The image seems to be--among other things--a face with eyes, several, and a mouth, repeated and rhymed--hence I call it the eleven-holed mask. The verso is the side that is lying flat on the table as I work with the fresh clay, so it is, shall we say, un-premeditated and pre-determined. I think of the poetry of bones and skeletons--they too are all negative surfaces.
